Sorry! Dolly Parton Never Sends Texts.
Published
1 year agoon
In a digital age where texting has become the norm, legendary country singer Dolly Parton stands out as a self-proclaimed “low-tech girl in a high-tech world.”
The 77-year-old music icon recently shared on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ that she refuses to send text messages, emphasizing her desire to avoid the constant influx of communication.
Parton explained, “I always say I’m a low-tech girl in a high-tech world, but I surround myself with all these people who are into this high-tech world. I don’t want to talk to everybody who wants to talk to me. I don’t text because I don’t want to have to answer.”
The iconic singer, known for hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” values a more selective and intentional approach to communication. “If somebody calls me, I’ll answer if I want to talk to them, or I’ll call them back when I can. Otherwise, I got too much to think about to clutter my mind up with everything else. I’m certainly not a stupid person,” she added with a characteristic twinkle in her eye.
Parton’s decision not to embrace texting aligns with her overall approach to technology. While she acknowledges that she could learn it if she wanted to, she prefers the simplicity of her fax machine for communicating creative ideas with her team. “I’d rather just have my fax machine, call in my creative stuff to my crew, and I’ve got the best crew in the world,” she proudly declared.
Beyond her tech choices, Dolly Parton has also been known for her apolitical stance throughout her illustrious career. In a previous revelation, she shared her aversion to politics, stating that she “hates” the subject. The award-winning star fears alienating a portion of her diverse fan base by making explicit political statements.
Parton’s approach reflects a conscious effort to keep her art and music a unifying force. “I don’t want to make a statement that’s going to offend someone just because of their political views. I’m an entertainer. I want to entertain. I don’t want to say, ‘Well, if you’re not this, you can’t be in my fan club.'”
In a world often marked by division, Dolly Parton remains a beacon of inclusivity and authenticity. Her commitment to simplicity in communication and reluctance to wade into political waters underscore her desire to connect with fans through the universal language of music, transcending the boundaries of technology and ideology. As she continues to navigate a high-tech world, Dolly Parton remains true to herself, embracing a low-tech charm that has endeared her to generations of fans around the globe.

From Green to Pink: Ariana Grande’s Audition Twist For Wicked

November 23, 2024Ariana Grande, who stars as Glinda in the film adaptation of Wicked, initially auditioned for the role of Elphaba, the green-skinned witch.
The pop superstar sang Elphaba’s songs during her audition, a move that surprised director Jon M. Chu.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Chu revealed, “I assumed she was coming in for Glinda, but my casting director said, ‘No, she’s auditioning for Elphaba.’ Though unexpected, we let her go for it. She was wonderful, but in my mind, she was always Glinda.”
Grande confirmed the confusion during the Sentimental Man podcast, admitting, “I always felt in my heart that Glinda was my role. But when I heard I might read for both, I thought it was because people weren’t sure if my voice fit Glinda better than Elphaba.” She added, “I secretly knew I was meant to play Glinda.”
The highly anticipated adaptation, directed by Chu, tells the story of Glinda and Elphaba’s complex friendship before it’s torn apart by the manipulative Wizard of Oz. The cast includes Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, alongside Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and Ethan Slater.
To bring authenticity to their performances, Grande and Erivo insisted on singing live during filming. “It was an immediate no-brainer,” Grande told E! News. Erivo agreed, saying, “There’s something special about live music in a room—it brings an unmatched energy.”
Wicked hit the theaters on November 22, 2024.
