Nigerian Star Oxlade, Showcases Versatility With Double Release
Afropop sensation Oxlade returns triumphantly with a captivating double release, featuring the tracks ‘Katigori’ (Category) and ‘Piano.’ Each song showcases a different facet of Oxlade’s musical prowess, offering fans a glimpse into the artist’s versatile talent.
‘Katigori’ emerges as an uplifting Afrobeats anthem, resonating with Oxlade’s aspirations and determination to achieve greatness. Produced by the acclaimed hitmaker Timmy, the track boasts striking beats, enchanting background violins, and an irresistible hook. Oxlade describes ‘Katigori’ as a three-year-old record created during a period when he had fame but was still striving for success. The song serves as a prophetic declaration of his journey, expressing confidence that there will be a moment when he is universally recognized as the greatest of all time in the music industry.
On the flip side, ‘Piano’ is a mesmerizing Amapiano love song that promises to set dance floors ablaze with its infectious rhythms. Produced by the exceptional hitmaker P-Prime, the track blends the soft hits of a log drum, piano, and drums with Oxlade’s signature falsetto and ad-libs. Oxlade reveals that ‘Piano’ is a culmination of his faster-paced records that may not have received the recognition they deserved in the past. Now armed with a larger audience, he aims to showcase the vibrant, club-centric side of Oxlade. According to the artist, ‘Piano’ stands as the strongest musical offering he has dropped this year.
Oxlade’s impact on the global music scene is undeniable, having performed alongside heavyweights like Usher at the Global Citizen Festival in Ghana and sharing the stage with Wizkid at the Accor Arena in France. His hit single “Ku Lo Sa” has achieved remarkable success, earning double platinum certification in Switzerland and platinum status in Canada, France, and Germany. Notably, the track was recognized as the #5 top song of 2022 by Complex and the #2 best Afro-pop song of 2022 by Rolling Stone.
The accolades continue to pour in for Oxlade, with five nominations at The Headies Awards show, including coveted categories like Viewer’s Choice and Best Vocal Performance. Additionally, he has received a Billboard nomination for the Top Afrobeats Song. This double release serves as a tantalizing preview of what’s to come on his forthcoming album, titled “Oxlade From Africa.” As Oxlade continues to make waves in the music industry, fans can anticipate a dynamic and genre-defying musical journey on the horizon.
