English Premier League table takes shape as the fight for top 4 intensifies

This past weekend of 15 and 16 January 2023 saw a host of matches takes place across the United Kingdom as the English premier League entered round 20.

The ever anticipated Manchester derby took place as both Manchester United and Manchester City looked to extend their rivalry at Old Trafford the “Theatre of dream.” At the end of the 90 minutes, the city of Manchester was painted red as Manchester United came from a goal down to beat the visitors 2-1. The visitors goal was scored by Jack Grealish before the host equalized through their captain Bruno Fernandes.

Few minutes later Marcus Rashford caught the city defense napping and he stunned then with the match winning goal.

Liverpool were treated to a 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the American Express Community stadium courtesy of a goal by Danny Welbeck and a brace from Solly March.

on sunday Chelsea stunned Crystal Palace 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Kai Havertz at stamford Bridge. Newcastle United who are playing their best football in a long time, stunned Fulham 1-0 courtesy of a goal scored by Alexander Isak.

Closing round 20 fixtures was the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs played at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium. The visitors, Arsenal continued with their winning ways by stunning the host 2-0 courtesy of an own goal from goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and a goal from Martin Odegaard.

A recent motion claims Combs directed his family to reach out to witnesses and used a call with his son to imply attempts at blackmailing victims into silence or favorable testimony. He’s also accused of leveraging social media to influence potential jurors.

The charges against Combs are among the most serious faced by a high-profile figure in recent years. In October, over 100 individuals, including children, alleged rape, sexual assault, and exploitation at Combs’ hands, with many preparing lawsuits. These accusations have added to a mounting legal battle for the music mogul.

If convicted, Combs could receive a life sentence, marking a dramatic fall from grace for one of hip-hop’s most successful figures. Despite the gravity of the charges, Combs’ legal team continues to deny all allegations, labeling them as baseless and defamatory, while insisting on his innocence.

South Africa’s Tyla Sweeps MTV EMAs With Three Major Wins

South African pop star Tyla was a standout at the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, winning three major accolades: Best Afrobeats Act, Best African Act, and Best R&B Act.

She was nominated in four categories, including Best New Act.

The Truth or Dare singer, known for blending genres, became emotional during her acceptance speech for the R&B award, where she acknowledged the influence of her idol, Aaliyah. Tyla also paid homage to the late icon by wearing a dress inspired by Aaliyah’s iconic 2000 VMAs look. “Winning this in her dress is just unbelievable,” she said through tears.

Tyla shared the stage with her sister Sydney Seethal to accept the Best Afrobeats award, expressing her gratitude and admiration for her fellow nominees. She also performed her hit Water and her latest single PUSH 2 START, electrifying the audience.

The evening’s top winner was Taylor Swift, while host Rita Ora delivered a heartfelt tribute to Liam Payne, who passed away in October. Tyla’s wins marked another milestone in her meteoric rise as a global music force.

Spotify has named Nigerian music sensation FAVE as its EQUAL Africa Artist of the Month for November 2024.

With her soulful voice, captivating lyrics, and unique rhythmic style, FAVE has become one of Nigeria’s most influential musical figures, gaining international recognition.

FAVE’s breakthrough came in 2020 with the viral hit “N.B.U.,” followed by her debut EP Riddim 5. She has since collaborated with top Nigerian artists like Olamide, Simi, Phyno, and Davido. Notably, her feature on Davido’s “Kante” from the Timeless album was one of Spotify’s most-streamed tracks in Nigeria in 2023.

Reflecting on her journey, FAVE shared, “Being a woman in the music industry can be challenging, but it’s made me more determined. The EQUAL program is vital because it amplifies women’s voices and promotes balance in the industry.”
