X Officially Allows Explicit Content with New Guidelines to Protect Users: Here’s What You Need To Know

Published

on

X, which I will forever still call Twitter, has recently introduced new policies to tackle the dissemination of explicit and non-consensual content, including AI-generated deepfakes. This initiative marks a significant change for the platform, which previously allowed explicit posting without stringent guidelines, resulting in numerous complications and misuse. We all thought it would go the Tumblr route and ban explicit content entirely but nop.

The new guidelines specifically ban the sharing of “synthetic, manipulated, or out-of-context media that may deceive or confuse people and lead to harm.” This includes content that sexualizes individuals without their consent. The aim is to protect users from harmful and misleading media that can cause significant distress and damage reputations.

One of the key issues that these new policies address is the prevalence of deepfake technology, which has been increasingly used to create explicit and non-consensual images and videos. Celebrities, such as Jacob Elordi and Taylor Swift, have been notable targets of these deepfakes, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, causing substantial personal and professional harm.

Despite the implementation of these new policies, challenges remain. The rapid spread of explicit deepfakes and the evolving nature of AI technology means that X will need to continuously adapt and enforce its guidelines to effectively combat this issue. The platform’s efforts are a step in the right direction, but the effectiveness of these measures will depend on consistent enforcement and user awareness.

The introduction of these guidelines is a crucial development for X. By setting clear rules and taking a firm stance against non-consensual explicit content, the platform aims to create a safer and more respectful online environment. This move not only protects individual users but also reinforces the platform’s commitment to integrity and trust.

As long as you remember to not open X in public or around your parents, you’re going to be okay.

Federal prosecutors allege that Combs used other inmates’ phone accounts, third-party services, and three-way calls to contact witnesses, violating prison regulations.

A recent motion claims Combs directed his family to reach out to witnesses and used a call with his son to imply attempts at blackmailing victims into silence or favorable testimony. He’s also accused of leveraging social media to influence potential jurors.

The charges against Combs are among the most serious faced by a high-profile figure in recent years. In October, over 100 individuals, including children, alleged rape, sexual assault, and exploitation at Combs’ hands, with many preparing lawsuits. These accusations have added to a mounting legal battle for the music mogul.

If convicted, Combs could receive a life sentence, marking a dramatic fall from grace for one of hip-hop’s most successful figures. Despite the gravity of the charges, Combs’ legal team continues to deny all allegations, labeling them as baseless and defamatory, while insisting on his innocence.
