Sultana Actress Winnie Bwire To Be Laid To Rest This Weekend

Kenyan actress Winnie Bwire, known for her role as “Dida” in the TV series Sultana, passed away in Turkey after a long battle with breast cancer on the 5th of September.

Taking to social media, the family shared the burial plans scheduled for this weekend.

The body of the late actress will arrive at Kisumu International Airport on Friday morning, September 20th from Mombasa, before being transported to her ancestral home in Kholera, Matungu, Mumias.

Bwire will be laid to rest on Saturday, September 21st, at her parents’ home in Kakamega County.

Fans and colleagues have been sharing tributes online, remembering her for her talent and strength during her fight against cancer.

Oscar-winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o is venturing into podcasting with her very own 10-part series titled, ‘Mind Your Own‘.

It celebrates the rich diversity of African cultures, featuring voices from six different African languages and music composed by 15 artists from the African diaspora. This cross-cultural production sets the stage for a series that feels deeply rooted in African experiences while reaching a global audience.

Announcing the project alongside the release of its official trailer, Nyong’o’s podcast will transport listeners to cities such as Nairobi, Addis Ababa, Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Toronto, and Kampala.

For Nyong’o, the project is personal. Born in Mexico, raised in Kenya, and having spent the last two decades in the U.S., she is intimately familiar with the complexities of being part of the African diaspora. This lived experience fuels her drive to authentically represent the African journey and to create a platform where these stories can be shared openly.

Mind Your Own will debut on September 19 with two episodes, available on all major podcast platforms. New episodes will drop weekly.
