Top Kenyan Artists Who Perfomed During Shujaaz Memorial Concert
Hundreds of youths marched to Uhuru Park on Sunday for a concert in honour of protesters who died during demonstrations against the Finance Bill. The date coincided with the 1990 Saba Saba uprising, marking Kenya’s second liberation, and the event served as a reflection on the country’s history.
Activist Boniface Mwangi announced plans for the commemorative concert on his official X account earlier last week. The event, dubbed the Shujaaz Memorial Concert, took place from 12 PM to 7 PM and attracted a diverse crowd, including Gen Z, Millennials, and supporters from other generations.
The free-entry concert saw attendees pay homage to the victims of state violence during protests against bad governance and the controversial 2024 Finance Bill, among other issues.
The concert began with the mounting of white crosses bearing the names of those who died during the protests and those still missing.
Radio presenter Sheila Kwambox served as the MC. Several artists entertained the crowd, including Khaligraph Jones, Bien, Fena, Nameless, Octopizzo, Charisma, Juliani, Eric Wainaina, Sarabi Band, Graffiti Band, Mutoria, and DJ Moh. Other performers included DJ Double Trouble, Field Marshall Band, Njerae, DJ Lordwin, MC Kwambox, MC Kibunja, and MC Njoria.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja approved the use of Uhuru Park for the memorial concert. Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah, a vocal opponent of the now-impugned Finance Bill 2024, was also present. His popularity was evident from the loud cheers he received at the event.

Diddy Accused Of Manipulating Witnesses from Custody
Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, awaiting trial for racketeering and sex trafficking in 2025, has been accused of tampering with witnesses from prison.
Federal prosecutors allege that Combs used other inmates’ phone accounts, third-party services, and three-way calls to contact witnesses, violating prison regulations.
A recent motion claims Combs directed his family to reach out to witnesses and used a call with his son to imply attempts at blackmailing victims into silence or favorable testimony. He’s also accused of leveraging social media to influence potential jurors.
The charges against Combs are among the most serious faced by a high-profile figure in recent years. In October, over 100 individuals, including children, alleged rape, sexual assault, and exploitation at Combs’ hands, with many preparing lawsuits. These accusations have added to a mounting legal battle for the music mogul.
If convicted, Combs could receive a life sentence, marking a dramatic fall from grace for one of hip-hop’s most successful figures. Despite the gravity of the charges, Combs’ legal team continues to deny all allegations, labeling them as baseless and defamatory, while insisting on his innocence.
