The ‘Demon Slayer’ Saga Ends with the Infinity Castle Trilogy

In a thrilling announcement following the final episode of the Hashira Training arc, Crunchyroll has revealed that it has secured the exclusive global rights to “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle,” which will be presented as a trilogy of films in cinemas worldwide, hopefully, Kenya is part of this worldwide release. They are yet to announce the release dates however, this three-part cinematic event will mark the final arc and the conclusion of the highly acclaimed and popular Shonen series.

“Demon Slayer has been an incredible journey, and we at Crunchyroll are excited to have been part of it from the start,” expressed Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “We are thrilled to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen. It promises to be one of the most epic and significant pop cultural events when it hits cinemas.”

Based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge and published under Shueisha’s JUMP COMICS, “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” spans 23 volumes and has sold over 150 million copies since its debut in 2018. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who joins the Demon Slayer Corps after his family is slaughtered by a demon and his sister Nezuko is transformed into one.

The anime adaptation premiered in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc, followed by the blockbuster film Mugen Train in October 2020. Subsequent arcs, including the Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc, aired between 2021 and 2022. The Swordsmith Village Arc debuted on Crunchyroll in 2023, closely followed by the theatrical release of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village-“. In 2024, the Hashira Training Arc was released, accompanied by the “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To Hashira Training-” film.

The latest films – Mugen Train, -To the Swordsmith Village-, and -To the Hashira Training- – have enjoyed both commercial and critical success. Mugen Train holds the record as the highest-grossing anime movie of all time and the highest-grossing Japanese film at the global box office and boasts impressive scores on Rotten Tomatoes with a 98% critic rating and a 99% audience score from over 10,000 verified ratings.

The Infinity Castle trilogy promises to deliver an unforgettable conclusion to this beloved series, cementing its place in the annals of anime history, even if just for the animation.
