Tyla’s chart-topping sensation, “Water,” continues to make waves on the Billboard Hot 100, attracting remixes from industry heavyweights Travis Scott and Marshmello released on Friday (Nov. 17).

Travis Scott’s remix brings a wavy flow reminiscent of his 2017 collaboration on “Know No Better” with Major Lazer, Camila Cabello, and Quavo. Meanwhile, Marshmello injects a new level of buoyancy into the track. The live debut of Scott’s rendition took place at GQ’s Man of the Year party in Los Angeles on Thursday night.

Currently sitting at No. 18 on the Hot 100 and No. 5 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, “Water” has not only dominated the U.S. Afrobeats Songs and World Digital Song Sales charts but has also earned a 2024 Grammy nomination in the newly introduced category of Best African Music Performance.

Reflecting on her success, Tyla shared her excitement with Billboard during her October R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month interview, stating, “This hasn’t happened in so long for a South African artist, born and raised in South Africa, with an African song and dance style. Everything is authentic, and the fact that it translates overseas is crazy.”

Expressing her aspirations, Tyla added, “I always wanted to be the biggest pop star in general. I didn’t want to be the biggest African pop star. I just want to be the biggest pop star born and raised in Africa. The positive response from the world indicates I’m one step closer to that dream.”

With remixes from top-tier artists and a global reach that transcends borders, Tyla’s “Water” is poised to make an even greater splash in the music industry, solidifying her position as a rising international pop sensation.
