The host nation, Qatar became the first country to be eliminated as the world cup entered its 6th day yesterday.

Qatar lost 3-1 in their second group match against Senegal at the Al-Thumama Stadium. Senegal’s goals were socred by Boulaye Dia,Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng while Qatar’s goal was scored by Mohammed Muntari.

The two defeats meant that Qatar had to wait for the other group A clash between Netherlands versus Ecuador to know their fate. The match between the two ended in a 1-1 draw.
Netherlands were first to score through their striker , Cody Gakpo after which Ecuador equalised through their fired up striker, Enner Valencia.

The dram means that Ecuador and Netherlands are both on 4 points, Senegal on 3 points and Qatar are without a point. This means that even if the host nation wat to win its final match there is no way it will wualify for the knockout stage.

In group B, Iran put two goals in the dying minutes of their game against Wales. The goals were scored by Roozbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian. This match saw Wales goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey given a straight red card after a VAR review.
