Three individuals have been charged following the death of former One Direction star Liam Payne, who died after falling 45 feet from a balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16.

The 31-year-old’s passing has prompted an in-depth investigation by Argentine authorities, leading to charges of “abandonment of a person followed by death” and “supply and facilitation of narcotics,” according to a statement from public prosecutor Andres Esteban Madrea.

The accused include a “friend” who allegedly accompanied Payne during his stay, and two hotel employees suspected of providing him with narcotics. One hotel worker is accused of supplying cocaine twice, while another individual allegedly provided drugs on October 14. The charges follow extensive evidence gathering, including CCTV footage analysis and forensic data extraction from Payne’s mobile device.

Liam Payne’s body has been repatriated to the UK, where his funeral is expected to take place at a cathedral of personal significance. His father, Geoff Payne, accompanied his son’s remains home, with reports indicating their arrival in Wolverhampton.
