South African comedian Trevor Noah has secured his first Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance in Stand-up Comedy on Television.

The 39-year-old, known for hosting The Daily Show, received the nod for his Netflix special “Where Was I.” This marks the inaugural year for the stand-up comedy category at the Golden Globes, reflecting the awards’ new leadership and expanded voting body.

Noah, an executive producer on the project, competes with comedy heavyweights like Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, and Wanda Sykes. “Where Was I” humorously chronicles Noah’s global experiences during his Off the Record stand-up tour, filmed at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan.

The Netflix special, Noah’s fourth on the platform, is set to stream from December 19.

The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, taking place on January 7, 2024, will feature the comedian vying for the prestigious accolade. Noah, a recipient of various international awards, continues to make his mark in the entertainment industry, with this nomination adding to his illustrious career.
