Funk Music Duo Unganisha Launch Their New Album MbiliMbili.

Kenyan -Norwegian music duo Unganisha release their latest record album MbiliMbili .

Unganisha which means ”to join together” in Swahili comprises Kenyan traditional musician Labdi Ommes and experimental electronic artist- Bernt Isak Wærstad from Norway. Performing at Shelterke in the heart of Westlands, Nairobi: the two brought an electric performance yesterday as they launched the album: MbiliMbili.

The 11-track album comprises songs like Ochwe (raining), Sulu, Baddie, Aringo, water, etc. Labdi talked about the song Sulu which goes ”akuna ajuaye Sulu” and emphasizes the unseen tomorrow of a human being.

” We don’t know what the future holds…. so lets forge foward; love the people who love you..”

Labdi who was the lead singer; an invited performance from Kasiva Mutua who played the Ongeng’o and Bernt was on the piano managed to get the crowd on their feet. The audience was treated to song and dance as they jammed to the tracks. While enjoying their drinks, the crowd cheered the duo onto another performance as they neared the end.

MbiliMbili which translates to ”two” is available on all platforms and even on Vinyl. Despite a nationwide blackout, Unganisha was able to pull a funk concert as they successfully launched their album.
