Eddy Kenzo, Burna Boy, Nomcebo Zikode, Tems And More Nominated For The 2023 Grammy Awards

Burna Boy, Eddy Kenzo, Tems and ‘Jerusalema’ singer Nomcebo Zikode are among the African stars who have received nominations for the 2023 Grammy awards.

The African nominees who were announced by the Record Academy on Wednesday 15th November 2022 are proof that the world is paying attention to the sounds coming from the African continent.

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy and Beninese legend Angélique Kidjo are both nominated for Best Global Music Album for the albums ‘Love,Damini’ and ‘Queen of Sheba’ respectively.

Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo, Ghana’s Rocky Dawuni, South Africa’s Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode, and Burna Boy are all in the running for Best Global Music Performance.

Nigeria’s rising star Tems is nominated for ‘Wait For U,’ her collaboration with Future and Drake, under the Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Angélique Kidjo is also nominated for her Woman King song ‘Keep Rising’ under the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.

On the other hand, Beyonce has received nine nominations for the 2023 Grammy awards.

The 41-year-old superstar – who is now tied with husband Jay-Z as the most nominated artist in Grammy history with a total of 88 each – enjoyed a career comeback earlier this year with chart-topping single ‘Break My Soul’ as well as new album ‘Renaissance ‘ and has received a total of nine nods for the upcoming ceremony, with nominations in the categories of Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best R B Song, and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album, Best R and B Performance, and Best Song Written For Visual Media.

The 65th installment of the award show will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
