Burna Boy Named Best African Act At The 2022 MTV EMAs

Afrobeats crooner Burna Boy won the Best African Act Award at the 2020 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

The prestigious awards took place at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 13 November.


The EMAs honour the best music of the year and the biggest artists around the world. The ‘Last Last’ hitmaker beat fellow Nigerians Ayra Star and Tems as well as Ghana’s Black Sherif, Tanzania’s Zuchu and South Africa’s Musa Keys to pick up the award.

Burna Boy joins other leading African names who have won the award in previous years, including Wizkid, Master KG, Davido and Tiwa Savage.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift emerged as the biggest winner on the night, scooping the awards for Best Artist, Best Video, Best Pop and Best Longform Video.
