CCTV Captures Last Moments of 12-Year-Old Patience Mumbe Before Her Death

The community of Pipeline Estate in Embakasi is reeling after the tragic murder of 12-year-old Patience Mumbe, a Grade 7 pupil who went missing on Thursday, December 4. CCTV footage from local shops captured her running through the neighborhood at around 6:30 pm, moments later identified as her last known movements.

The footage shows Patience running toward Outering Road before turning into a narrow path, glancing back as if checking for someone following her, and disappearing near a nearby bus stop, a haunting final image of her alive.

Two days later, the family’s worst fears were confirmed in a heartbreaking way. Patience’s mother saw a Facebook post reporting a body had been found in a ditch in KAA Estate, just one kilometer from their home. The discovery sent shockwaves through the neighborhood. Residents who arrived at the scene described a horrifying sight: her hands were bound behind her back, a shoelace tied around her neck, and visible injuries were evident.

Speaking to Citizen TV, the parents are now seeking justice, demanding accountability and swift action from authorities. “We want justice for our daughter,” said the grieving father

Police have launched a comprehensive investigation, including tracing vehicles and mobile phones detected in the area around the time of her disappearance. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

For parents, this tragic case is a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and open communication with children. Experts advise:

While the investigation continues, Patience Mumbe’s story is a sobering reminder of the vulnerabilities children face and the shared responsibility of parents and communities to protect them.
