Manchester United reach Carabao cup final

Manchester United win 5-0 on aggregate against Nottingham Forest to reach the first Carabao cup final in five years

Erik ten Hag has successfully guided Manchester United to it’s first Carabao cup final in five years. The reds thrashed Nottingham Forest 2-0 in yesterday’s semi-final second leg match at Old Trafford to win 5-0 on aggregate.

The last time United won the trophy was back in 2017 when they thrashed Southampton 3-2 at Wembley Stadium.

Newcastle United will provide the opposition on the big day, after overcoming Southampton 3-1 in their two-legged semi-final.

The win, meant that Erik Ten Hag has won 12 successive matches at home in all competitions. The last time the Reds faced the Magpies in a major final was back in1999, Where Manchester United won 2-0 in the FA Cup at Wembley as the second leg of the historic Treble. Teddy Sheringham and Paul Scholes were on target.

The two teams go into the final with an improved form this season and both managers Eddie Howe of Newcastle and Erik Ten Hag of Manchester United are looking to make history as this will be their first Carabao cup final as managers.

The match is scheduled to be played on 26th February 2023.
