The legendary marathon runner, on Thursday, officially launched his own foundation called ‘Eliud Kipchoge Foundation’ that will greatly focus on the environment and education which have been his main focus throughout his running career.

“I’m very grateful to launch my Eliud Kipchoge Foundation today. My mission is to give all children in the world access to knowledge and education. During the launch the celebrated marathon runner said that his focus on education was motivated by the experience he has had as an athlete and that his foundation will also advocate for re-afforestation.

“From my own experience, I saw that most athletes dropped out of school and tried to build a life without education. But with education, it can help you grow and it can help you grow your community alongside you,” he said.

The Foundation is also receiving donations from well wishers in an aim to raise more funds that will enable more children access education through sponsoring school fees, building libraries, and schools.

Kipchoge defended his marathon title last month in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games in Japan, becoming the third marathon runner in history to defend the Olympic title successfully.
