Both teams were good going forward and created good chances on both ends of the pitch but the players lacked the finishing touch forcing both to settle for a point each.

The draw adds to Harambee Stars’ misfortunes in football competitions as they had earlier failed to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) scheduled to take place in Cameroon next year.

“A journey always starts with one step and for us, we have started with a point. Of course not the kind of start we wanted but we have to take the result and look to improve. We were not at our best because we did not have a friendly match to try and test ourselves and that is why it was visible we could not do our normal passing,” said Mulee after the match.

Kenya and Uganda are in group E alongside Mali and Rwanda. Kenya will now travel to Rwanda this coming Sunday while Uganda Cranes will welcome Mali in Kampala the following day.
